Ilari Sääskilahti won the two last races of the Winter Championship 2018 season in Raahe and Mäntyharju taking the overall Championship title with his new Mtec. Mtec congrats the new champion!
On 17th of February was driven the second FinRX Crosskart Sprint race in Raahe that was already showing promising results for the future when Ilari took the win on that race making his way to the top positions in the Championship. After a rough start in the first race this was a delicious win for the team.
Before the last race everyone was so close to each other in Championship points that anyone who won the last race was going to win the Champioship. Mtec and Ilari Sääskilahti Racing had recovered well from the rocky start taking the victory on both of the last remaining races making Ilari and Mtec the overall champions of the Finnish 85cc Crosskart Winter series.
In Mäntyharju last weekend Ilari had such a smooth drive without needing to overtry anything just keeping up the pace and team was making sure no technical issues occurred. “Mtec is so steady and reliable to drive that it’s easy to make consistant lap times just keeping the same pace and staying on the track”, Ilari described his performance after his two last runs had only few tenths of a second difference to each other.
Now after the winter series Mtec is facing new challenges of tarmac and gravel. “Now the Mtec Crosskart has proven itself on ice and snow but we still have to see how it performs on tarmac and gravel and if some modifications are needed to face these new conditions”, commented Miikka Mäkelä from Mtec.
The first summer race will be driven on 20th of May in Vilppula.
