The tolerances set for fuel injectors are generally not sufficient in motorsport use. In general, the injectors must be tested, selected and grouped into series depending on the amounts they produce to balance the differences between cylinders.
Injector manufacturers usually have 20-30% tolerance from the average injection amounts they spray. Which is really a lot for motorsport use and makes it difficult to tune the motor.
Impurities can accumulate inside the injector nozzles over time and filters might clog. Ultrasound washing and filters exchange keep the injectors in shape and impurities away from the tip of the needle that might impair the injector operation.
