The Crosskart Finnish Championship series was driven again in full length after a pause due to covid-19. Mtec Tigers were still strongly represented and the drivers gained loads of success in terms of race wins, achieving personal goals and having fun! The crown jewel was the second ever championship title for Mtec Tiger Crosskarts to accompany the winter series title in Mtecs debut year in 2018.
There were drivers with their Mtec Tigers in each class from Mini (6 to 11 year old drivers) to 125cc (12 to 16 years). In 125cc Joonatan Ylilammi won the final round of the series and claimed podiums and good points through the season. In the final standings he was 4th only 5 points behind the vice champion. Eemil Velling drove in the Mini class where every participant is a winner!
The most Mtecs and also the most drivers was seen in the 85cc class. Joanna Ylilammi was gathering experience in her debut season in the class for 9 to 13 year old drivers with her Mtec and gathered points from almost every round during the season. The energetic twins Kaapo and Kasperi Ahonen also updated their engines for this season and switched from Mini to 85cc with their two Mtecs. Goal was to gather mileage in the new class and the goals were exceeded when Kaapo made it to the A final already in the first round and they were both racing for the places in the finals through out the whole season! Oliver Latomäki was also well in the fight for the top 10 in the series with a total of 26 drivers in the points. In the end Kaapo was P10, Oliver P13 and Kasperi P18 in this very competitive series.
Niko Kinnunen started his second season in the 85cc class and was in the winning streak from the start of the season. Two wins from the first two rounds was about to give him a good start for the season, but in the A final of the second round his car was going 1km/h too fast according to the rules and the result was DSQ. The round in Oulu was also not easy with many issues in the heats. Niko’s great driving recovered him from C final to A final and finishing in P2. Then a couple more podiums secured him the win of the Finnish Championship title!
Mtec Formula Technology congratulates all their drivers and wishes loads of success for the upcoming season 2022!
